While a lot of people have strong feelings to the colder weather, I love the change of seasons.
As the leaves on the tree change colour and the wind begins to cool, my favourite thing to do is to slow the pace and add some much needed layers to our kids bedrooms.

I love adding extra cushions and pillows to kids spaces. It does add an ambience and also adds extra comfort when playing in your cosy space. Chilly winter nights often mean utilising a neglected reading nook and snuggling up with both your favourite books and cushions.

I always change the linen on my kids bed when the weather starts to cool. Depending on heating in your home, either add additional layering on the bed or change bedlinen to something that has a slight texture giving a feeling of extra warmth. Our grey star cot sheets are my go to for winter bedding for babies. Both our boys are warm sleepers so on the single beds we still use cotton bed sheets and add additional blankets and quilts.

Now I do go overboard on blankets. In our nursery I layer the cot and also have one draped over the feeding chair for late night feeds when it is a little more chilly. For these I recommend our cotton knit blankets or our tassel quilts for extra warmth.

These are a more practical must have, especially in a nursery. Keeping little fingers and toes warm can be a mission with the changing temperature. I always layer up bub with both socks and a bootie like our crochet booties.
